Sometimes I think to myself, “What a mess you are.” My mind says these words without any reasoning behind the statement. I don’t know how long this has been happening unconsciously in my mind, maybe many years. However, I am currently conscious of this behavior and have stopped to ask myself why it happens.

Today I stated the phrase above to myself, and looked up to see a dingy middle aged man. He sat in a coffee shop alone. Based on his appearance, complete with a plastic bag filled with a dirty white blanket, I would say he might be homeless. This man sat by the door which was used for an entrance as well as an exit. As people passed by him, he would chuckle to himself. When there was no traffic passing this man, he murmured to himself, making hand gestures as if he was having the most fabulous conversation ever!

When I caught myself stating, “What a mess you are,” I saw the dingy middle aged man and restated my thought to, “What a mess we all are.” The human race is such an odd group of creatures. Our species all have the same exact needs, yet we separate ourselves with a belief that we are all different - as if each person is a completely different species.

I always enjoy day dreaming about what humans would do if we lived without technology and money. What would happen if all the marketing and greed left our world? What would happen if we didn’t have a superior sense of self, and lived directly in sync with the earth, as animals do? I believe the human race has forgotten that they are animals. And, yes maybe we do have God-like powers and the ability to do great things which other animals cannot. But, the bottom line is nothing is greater than the energy that surrounds and lives within us - the energy most humans through the ages have ignored and disrespected in honor of expanding our society - which ultimately is the greatest destroyer.

What is next for us humans? Only time will tell, but I do know we all need to work together as a worldwide community with no separation. We must realize we are all exactly the same, no matter how different we may look or act. Bring peace to the people around you. Connect to nature. Consume less and do your best to bring our society back down to earth.

Magical days,

Sarah
